I watched ప్రస్థానం  - telugu movie for the second time yesterday. A great drama with right amalgamation of human characteristics (ego, hunger, desire, pride, greed, craving, aversion), politics and human relations with the philosophical touch. The dialogues were anew. The ones which caught my attention are:

1) నీ ఆవేశానికి అర్ధం లేదు. స్వార్థమే మనిషి అసలు లక్షణం. నిస్వార్థం దాన్ని కాచే కవచం మాత్రమె. -> When I heard it for the first time, I rewinded and played it again. I paused and contemplated for a quick second and the wisdom dawned upon me. Yes, even when I think that let the whole universe be peaceful, there is a selfish goal in my wish. Even when I seek detachment or enlightenment, there is a selfish tint to it. Wow. This never occurred to me specifically. Good one.

-> I think I didnt get the literal dialogue here but the content is same. This swept me off my feet. I read in Buddhist literature(not sure if Gauthama said it by himself) that the entire universe is burning. Every moment, every thing is burning in the entire universe. Knowing this one should practice to come out of his delusions. I did not understand it. I thought that as every moment every thing is changing in the universe, maybe they meant it as burning because in burning there is constant flux. The object changes it's state continuously. After listening to this dialogue, the concept is crystal clear to me. What a simple explanation of an obscure, deep truth.

-> This makes perfect sense. Some mythologies, poetries and dramas might depict someone as a complete positive character (hero) and someone else as a complete negative character (villain) but to me in reality there is nothing as a complete positive or negative. To that matter, there is nothing good or bad. It is all self-perspective. For e.g. if killing is bad, then if it is undertaken as revenge or to save the entire universe also, it is bad and you cannot defend it as good. This is the base point for the movie.

[I forgot but some cause for] - ఆశ. I think these are the most core, basic, innate and fundamental characteristics of every life. Every being works to satiate its hunger. The thing that gives hope and craving for living more and more is desire and then comes the deepest truth with which everything else in the universe is linked - EGO. It is the wonderful narration of the director of these core concepts in such a cinematic way, which does not bore the audience and at the same time exemplify the happenings in the mundane life.

The above ones took me by surprise. There are other good dialogues too.

Overall a great drama in telugu in a long time. Kudos to the everyone associated with this project.

Arya 2 and others...

I watched Arya 2 a while back. I really liked the movie. I have been thinking to write about it. Though, I did not like Arya (prequel) because of the performance of the actors, I was impressed by the concept of the story and that too in Telugu. I say that because in the contemporary situation that kind of a movie will not get you money in telugu industry but the movie proved me wrong. The director has projected the concept in such a way so that it would please the majority of the telugu audiences too, which is what I liked.
When I watched the second movie of Sukumar (the director I am talking about) i.e. Jagadam, I maintained the same respect for him because the concept is tough to make money in telugu industry. As expected it was a dud but he made a very good effort.
Then comes Arya 2, which blew my mind away. This time the story is way more away from gaining acceptance from majority of the telugu audience but he maintained his path and did it. I think the movie did well in financial terms too. It was stylish, very well executed and blend to make it viewable by telugu audience. I wouldn't dare to even think of filming such a concept if I were filming for telugu audience. The story starts of by showing the lead actor in a negative shade and he defines it well for doing so. I wasn't bored at any point. The movie is very finely weaved with the comic, surprise and the elements that would make it acceptable by telugu audience. I would say it's one of the greatest and brave screen-plays in telugu film industry. Sukumar's honesty, courage are greatly commendable prior to his movie making skills. Kudos Sukumar, you have done a great job.
I appreciate the actors for accepting such a movie too, mainly Arjun because he being a son of the film producer and the current trend is that none of the proteges are even thinking of doing something fresh and new. He did a character with negative shades and that which will be disliked by majority of the telugu public. There you go Arjun - great job and great choice.
Overall a great truthful and honest movie and a different one.

From the others I have seen in recent times, I liked 3 idiots, blind side, People vs Larry Flynt.
